Welcome!

Hello and welcome to my blog and website!  To learn more about me please visit my about page here. How did I get here and what is my plan for my blog?

We all know 2020 has been quite the year so far.  It has been difficult for me along with the rest of the U.S. and the world.  I had been working in Operations for the past 16 years after some time spent in the military and finishing up college.  The last 14 years have been with one of the largest transportation companies working in their dedicated division managing a cross dock facility here in the PNW.

It had been a challenging 14 years with ups and downs but in the end it was a great experience and created a lot of personal growth for me over those years.  I was able to work with some amazing people along the way and had some great leaders as well.

Early this year some decisions were made and the operations based out of the PNW were moving elsewhere and I was not in a position at the time to commit to relocating with my current company and thus made the decision to take a layoff.  On April 1st, I officially became unemployed for the first time in my life since I started working at the age of 15.  We all know now what was ramping up at the same time, Covid-19, which has changed a lot for a lot of people this year.  Job opportunities have become scarcer for what I was looking for.  A lot of companies were doing layoffs and hiring freezes so I thought it may be a good time to see what I could do with my photography.

This has been a scary move for me.  It is weird not going into an office daily.  It is scary that we are downsizing and trying to get to a simpler place in life.  It is really scary to be moving forward without the generous salary I had at the start of the year that is now no longer.  My wife has championed this move and change in our life and I would not be here in this spot I am right now without her and her support and pushing me to pursue something I am passionate about and love!

So here I am starting a blog to go along with my website and print store.  My vision for this blog going forward is a place to share behind the scene accounts of photography trips or what it took to get a certain shot and possibly some travel and location tips all with photography in mind.

I hope you enjoy this and follow along with me on my journey!
